Note that I have tried my best to deliver all those points to you which are really needful if you are going for GMDSS GOC Exams in india or at UK . I have extracted these information from both the books so that  one can get best of information on his note book . the exam consists of 5 steps in india including Written , Log keeping , SSB practical , Oral and Safety . on the written question paper you will be asked regarding the SOLAS mostly . Regarding Log Keeping writing you will come to know at the institute but if you are getting spare time on your ship then you can go to you second officer or Radio Officer if available onboard and ask about the GMDSS log book . if you will observe nicely while onboard then its sure that you are going to pass log keeping on one attempt only . as i told you before also that GMDSS is not so difficult topic until n unless u practice at open Sea. so start preparing  your notes while sailing only because at Institute you will get only 15 days time and believe me if you guys wont take seriously before hand only then u might get failed also. During Orals they can ask you about the various types of frequencies and their meanings etc , about the procedures including definition of GMDSS sea areas and various types of Distress situations etc . During Safety Orals they will ask you about SART & EPIRB and their monthly and weekly tests and their working procedures , might can ask about the batteries including their safe maintenance and  handling practices.
During you SSB exams they can tell you to :-
  1. Switch on the DSC and update the vessel position
  2. Log in to Inmarsat C & prog for next Navarea
  3. Internal & External testing of the DSC
  4. Navtex operating testing and msg meanings .
  5. Testing of Battery on / off load condition
  6. Testing of VHF Transceivers & its adjustment of Volume, Squelch and Dimmer etc
  7. Adjustment of MF HF Transmitter power unit.
  8. complete the GMDSS Log book about the daily test etc
Anyways will try my best to upload  the latest Question papers also of different centres in India & Uk . and will try to update about the Radio Officer vacancy also further . if anybody is having any doubt about the exam pattern n all then don't hesitate to mail me at sundaymeter@gmail.com
